MISSION
CHHA national is a non-profit association registered as a charitable organization. CHHA Orillia has been working to improve the quality of life for hard of hearing (HOH) people in our area since 1984. We want to reduce the sense of isolation and frustration experienced by hard of hearing people providing options to reduce the effect of hearing loss.

Our work continues to evolve including:

  • Informative meetings about the latest technology
  • Conducting workshops to be aware of the HOH’s needs
  • Challenging businesses to be aware of the HOH’s needs
  • Providing bursaries and grants for HOH youth
  • Visiting City Council, Churches, Theatres and Cinemas to encourage them to provide assistive listening devices so that HOH folks can participate
  • Providing training to Soldiers Memorial Hospital in 15 departments to help them to understand the needs of
    HOH people in treatment
  • Including in our meetings time for members to share insight into coping with a hearing loss
Maintaining an lending library of equipment, assorted Videos, DVD’s and written material which can be
  • borrowed to assist the HOH
Providing presentations to banks, retail stores, pharmacies, dentists and physicians to help them be helpful
    to HOH clients/patients
  • Participating in accessibility committees both municipally and in hospital
